The loan, which was provided by the Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria to its registered members in the state, heralded the presence of farmers from all council areas of the state.
Speaking at the distribution in Jalingo, state Chairman of RIFAN, Tanko Andami, said the loan was secured through a facility from a commercial bank. He, however, explained that it was guaranteed under the Central Bank of Nigeria Anchor Borrower Scheme, stating that besides the inputs, each beneficiary would receive an additional N60, 000 cash for cost of labour.
Each beneficiary, he said, was expected to repay the loan after harvest, adding that before the disbursement of the loan, consultants from Fair Global were engaged for mapping its members.
