The Government Service Insurance System on Tuesday announced that it has earmarked P6 billion for emergency loans of its members and pensioners affected by the Mount Kanlaon eruption, El Niño phenomenon, and Typhoon Aghon.In a news release, the GSIS said a total of 231,250 calamity-hit members may benefit from the emergency loan program.
The GSIS said applications can be submitted via the GSIS Touch mobile app.According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council in June, damage to infrastructure and agriculture across the country due to Typhoon Aghon exceeded P1 billion.Aghon exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility on May 29.A total of 152,266 persons or 41,105 families were affected by Aghon in Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Central Visayas, and Eastern Visayas.
